Membership was defined by ICAO’s Global Aviation Training Office after a comprehensive assessment conducted at IGA Istanbul Airport.

The Membership Card was Presented to CEO Kadri Samsunlu

The ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Program, launched in 2010, supports educational collaborations aimed at the safe, secure and sustainable development of global air transport.

The program mazbata was presented to Kadri Samsunlu, CEO of IGA Istanbul Airport, by ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar at the ceremony within the scope of the “ICAO – Global Implementation Support Symposium” held in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, on May 31, 2023. At the ceremony, it was emphasized that IGA Istanbul Airport is the only private institution that is a member of the TRAINAIR PLUS Program from Turkey. Samsunlu also participated in the panel titled “Challenges Facing Civil Aviation Stakeholders on Implementation Support and Resilience” at the event organized by ICAO as a speaker.

Kadri Samsunlu underlined in his speech that aviation is a system composed of interconnected components and said, “In this system, if even one component is defective, the efficiency of the entire network may be compromised. We have seen this in the case of China,”he said.
Stating the importance of a needs-based approach, the development of cooperation and partnerships between civil aviation stakeholders, and following technological innovations, Samsunlu stressed that as IGA, they are ready to provide comprehensive support to initiatives aimed at long-term industrial Deceleration.

IGA Academy under the roof of IGA Istanbul Airport, which continues to sign new agreements within the scope of training in cooperation with international organizations, received the accreditation of the Training Partner of the International Airports Council (ACI) and the Regional Training Partnership of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 2022.
